1-step Hummus (vegan | gluten-free)

I guess all bog-standard hummus recipes only require 1 step, but when you read the words out loud from paper (or your screen if you’re below the age of sixty), it just makes it that little more obvious how fucking easy it is to cook something! There’s no cooking even required!


Hummus is friggin awesome because it’s extremely versatile so it’s pretty darn difficult to get bored. You can spread it on toast, top up a jacket potato, use as a pizza topping, scoop onto waffles, have it for breakfast, as a snack, side dish for dinner…I could go on, but I won’t. You can decide for yourself what you prefer to do with it most.

Serving size:

Serves 4-6


  • 1 can of chickpeas drained
  • 2tbsp tahini
  • 1tsp sugar
  • 2tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste



  1. In a food processor, throw in all ingredients and blitz into a creamy but coarse puree.


Serve with anything and everything at whatever time of day you fancy- because that’s how hummus rolls baby!
