These 4-Ingredient Oatmeal Choc Chip Cookies are soft, crumbly and buttery. The chocolate chips add a nice crunch to the smooth texture. They’re so good for you they can even be eaten for breakfast or enjoyed as a healthy snack.

How to make oatmeal cookies Oatmeal cookies are made in pretty much the same way, using the same conventional method as typical cookies. A mixture of fat, sugar and a staple, usually some type of flour will be combined and turned into a dough which will then be baked to yield a crispy or chewy cookie.

Are oats gluten-free? Oats are generally free of gluten, but due to their processing methods, they are produced in the same factories as other gluten-containing grains so there is a possibility that they will have been contaminated with gluten. Oats that state they are gluten-free have usually undergone more stringent measures to ensure they do not contain gluten so are generally safe for those avoiding it in their diets.

Can cookies be frozen? These cookies can be frozen, though their texture may not be identical as when they were first prepared. However, they can be popped into the oven for a couple of minutes to get that fresh-baked texture and taste.

Can oats be replaced with another flour in this recipe? It is possible to switch oats to another flour, but depending on the type used, the recipe may need slight alterations to ingredient quantities, though cooking time and cooking temperature can most likely remain the same.

Recipe

Serving size:

Makes 8-10 cookies

Ingredients:

  • 200g Oats
  • 200g Peanut butter
  • 60 ml Maple syrup
  • 85g Chocolate chips

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180℃.
  2. Blend oats to a fine powder in a food processor.
  3. Add the peanut butter and maple syrup to the oats and continue to blend until a dough forms.
  4. Remove and fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Break off into 8-10 little balls and place on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.
  6. Flatten the balls down and bake for 15 minutes or until golden and cracked on the edges.
